Taylor Swift’s self-titled debut was released on October 24, 2006, and she has come a long way since. I think it’s safe to say that Taylor’s songwriting has improved from when she released her first album, but there is still something so magical about a teen girl’s ability to get on a stage and win the audience’s hearts. She wrote her first song on debut, ‘The outside’ when she was twelve, and though some of her later tracks improved her already very clear talent, it’s obvious that Taylor already had deep understanding of life and its struggles.

From the beginning Taylor has had an unnerving ability to use her lyrics and words and make them sound so true and powerful, in a way that makes every fan feel like Taylor is in their room right next to them, and you could tell her anything.

She not only can write strikingly relatable lyrics, but from her debut album she had a great ear for music, and a genuine good sound to her songs. It’s true that she wasn’t the iconic singer back then, at the beginning of her career, that she is now, but that doesn’t mean that her songs aren’t every bit as heart felt and personal.

She sings like that in all of her songs, singing like she’s writing in a journal, or having a conversation with her redneck heartbreaker who’s really bad at lying (Picture to burn).

Even the way she looks in the debut album cover, like she’s looking right at you, and can tell what you’re thinking, tells so much about her and her personality. While she could smile, sing pretty, naïve, happy songs, she catches the world off guard, telling unfortunate truths to the world, but when she’s done, she gets up, dries the tears off of her guitar(Teardrops on my guitar) and becomes the true superstar that she was from the beginning, and always will be.
